in the title description for this one it states 54mbps
does sound strange though, i think they must have their facts muddled

I think so too. These sellers cut an paste so many listings, they don't pay attention to details.
Well, you'll find out soon enough...if the thing works.
Let's just hope you don't get the dreaded BIOS 104 unsupported card error when you boot up your laptop.

I've never tried it. I think that other forum post I sent above references info about doing it.
The problem is you have to have the same type BIOS (like Phoenix for example) as any info you can find on how to modify it.
Trifling with the BIOS even with a simple flash is risky, let alone modifying code...
I can't say with 100% certainly the card you bought will work, but I feel confident it should.

Hi:
I booted up my 6930p notebook, and I have the Intel 5300, so I can't confirm or deny what speed the 5100 will connect at on the 5 GHz band.
Mine connects at 144 MBPS on either (and I don't know why it doesn't connect at 288 MBPS on the 5 GHz band with N only devices set). I only know enough about wireless router configurations to get by. I'm either missing something, or it is what it is.

Hi:
Sorry that was the wrong size for your machine.
I found the size Intel 5100 you need with a HP part # but I have no clue if this part number will be guaranteed to work. It will definitely fit but...
Here is the part new from HP- UK:
If you click on the part #, your model is not listed as one of the PC's that use the card. The problem is, your model has the wrong part number listed for it, so it may not be cross referencing correctly. It looks like just about every HP PC except yours uses it.
Here is the part on eBay UK...more of a risk in price if it doesn't work...
It sure would have been nice if HP had the right part number for that card for your machine!
I wish I could be of more help, but all I can do is take guesses, and I don't want you wasting any more of your $$$ on trial and error solutions.

hey, i got that half sized 5100 through (this was before your last post) : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220773086385?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
and unfortunately it doesnt work i get the dread module not supported error 😞
you dont need to buy 2 wifi cards do you? heh
do you still think its worthwhile trying the one you listed in your last post or is it pretty much the same as the 5100 i have tried already?

Hi:
Unfortunately, no, I don't have any PC's that take those cards--expecially the one you just bought w/o the HP part number.
The two I posted above at least have an HP part number on them, but that is a fair amount of money to gamble on a hunch it might work.
Especially in that it does not list the G6 as a supported notebook...that might be due to the fact that they have the wrong part number for it in the manual and it isn't cross referencing, or it just may simply not work.
Below is the list of HP notebooks that part number will work in:
I don't think they are the same as the one you bought for 7 pounds 99 pence, because they have the HP part numbers on them--but who knows if they will work in your machine?
