Have been experiencing BSOD events for months.  Thought the issue was viral even though I am running Avast, Windows Security Essentials, SpyBot S & D and Ad-Aware.  Did complete system software rebuilds on 2 different occasions starting with a reformat of the hard drive.  Upon the most recent events of a couple of weeks ago, I noted the heat coming from the rear left corner of the case was so great I had concerns of burning my fingers if I put them under there and left them for a few seconds.  Took the laptop to Geek squad and sent off to investigate heat issues.  After a week I get a call from the Geek.  "Everything checks out fine, I cleaned the fan and the inside...I cannot make it crash".  Well, after the heat I felt, I was concerned about a home fire so I told the Geek to keep it and stress test it until it failed.  Two days later I get a call..."This computer will not crash.  I can replace the fan or the mother board if you want, but I cannot find a fault".  I had him send it back.  I booted the machine last night, ran a SFC /SCANNOW and everything checked out.  Re-started the machine and BAM...black screen right after the windows logo goes away.  I put my hand under the back left of the laptop and it was incredibly hot.  I cannot get the machine to boot up with a visible screen in anything but Safe mode.

So, I called HP Tech Support, they told me to box it up and send it to them.  Oh yeah...have to give a credit card number and an authorization to spend $350.00.  I am not a fan of throwing good money after bad.  After what I have read in this thread it appears I am now the proud owner of a $1300.00 paper weight.  Oh, and if you can't tell by this message...I think the Geek Squad needs a kick in the pants too!

May be time for this die hard PC owner to look at Apple??

Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for Hewlett-Packard.
