Battery issues on the HP EliteBook 745 G5

Since yesterday, my notebook doesn't charge. What has been happening is the following:

• Yesterday, my laptop was running out of battery and I tried to plug it in. It didn't work as the battery wasn't taking any charge.
• When it powered off, I tried to plug it in again, thinking it was some battery glitch, but it still wouldn't charge.
• I then tried to switch only the plug that connects to the outlet (the battery adapter remained the same) and that's when things changed. For a brief second, the power button and the keyboard lit up (which should only happen when the PC is on) and then turned off again. Since then, whenever I plug the charger, the battery light flicks white and orange, turns off for 3 seconds, then flicks again, but doesn't charge.
• I also tried to perform a battery reset by holding the power button for 15 seconds, but that didn't result in anything. 

What other steps can I take or should I look into repairs already?
